TSA's Flight Training Security Program applies to you Every FAA flight training provider is covered, independent CFIs included. Tap for the standing list.
Since July 2024, every FAA flight training provider is covered, independent CFIs included, even if every student you teach is a U.S. citizen. The standing list:
- A provider account on the FTSP portal.
- TSA security awareness training, with a refresher every 24 months. Put the due date somewhere that reminds you.
- Verify every student's citizenship at the first lesson (U.S. passport or birth certificate) and keep the record five years. A logbook endorsement in your logbook and the student's satisfies the rule, and you can record one here in a minute: Documents → FTSP record (signed by you, kept for you, printable for the student's logbook).
- Non-citizen student, initial certificate or instrument/multiengine/type rating? Confirm their Determination of Eligibility first, notify TSA, and photograph them on day one. Reviews, IPCs, ground, and discovery flights need none of it.
